Why use FENSA

Benefits of using a FENSA Member

Home improvements can often be a significant financial investment. Before you commit to a contractor, ensure that the work is carried out to a high standard and meets the relevant Building Regulations. Search for a FENSA member.

Assurance

Check to see if your installer is carrying the FENSA Member ID Card which will help you to:

• Identify the individual on the card and the company they work for (the card is co-branded with the FENSA and member company's logo)

• Check the contractor’s membership number against FENSA’s website here

• Check who they are. The FENSA card comes equipped with security enhanced features including a hologram to avoid counterfeiting

Confidence

FENSA is the largest and longest established scheme for installers that is trusted by Local Authorities, industry and Government.

Vetting

FENSA members are continually inspected to ensure consistency with the relevant Building Regulations.

Network

FENSA is connected to nearly 6,000 installers and surveyors within England and Wales, all of whom have undergone the stringent vetting process to become a FENSA member.

Insurance

All FENSA members must provide homeowners with an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) – a guarantee covering the installer’s own guarantee or compliance with Building Regulations should they cease to trade.

Safeguard

By using a FENSA member consumers are protected from cowboys that do not adhere to Building Regulation standards – not only by withholding the scheme from those unable to pass FENSA’s independent assessments; but also by reporting to Local Authorities and Trading Standards companies who wrongly claim FENSA registration, to enable prosecution.

FENSA offers homeowners access to an extensive network of vetted installers and surveyors. Search for a FENSA member.

Why use a FENSA member?

• You do not have to register your window or door installation with the local authority yourself. Not only is the FENSA approach much faster and easier – it is likely to save you hundreds of pounds.

• Compliance with the Building Regulations without the added cost and time of arranging assessment by Building Control

•If you own properties across different local authorities – for consistency of quality and price, you are able to use the same FENSA installer for all installations, as they can work in across all Local Authority jurisdictions within England and Wales.
